# Components:
→ Cookie Dough
01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 9 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
04 - 1 large egg
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt
→ Decoration
07 - 3/4 cup powdered sugar
08 - 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice or water
09 - Food coloring (optional)
10 - Decorative ribbons for tying
# Method steps:
01 - In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
02 - Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed butter and sugar, mixing until fully combined.
03 - Gradually add the flour and salt into the wet mixture, stirring just until the dough forms.
04 - Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in cling film, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the chilled dough to approximately 1/5 inch (5 mm) thickness.
07 - Use heart and star cookie cutters to cut shapes, making a small hole near the top of each cookie for ribbon threading.
08 - Place the cut shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until edges turn lightly golden.
09 - Transfer baked cookies to a wire rack and let cool completely.
10 - Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice or water to create a smooth, spreadable glaze. Add food coloring if desired.
11 - Apply the glaze to the cookies and allow the icing to set thoroughly.
12 - Once the icing is fully dry, thread decorative ribbons through the holes and tie into bows.
